1. Have students watch each other walk up and down a long hallway to determine each other's foot type. In addition, have students find 2 tests other than the wet foot test to determine over or underpronation.
2. Describe the phases of the gait cycle and how the biomechanical forces change during each phase. Also, list the muscles responsible the action during each phase.
3. Have students visit a local sporting goods store and based on foot type, select a shoe they should purchase and a shoe they should not purchase based on the information learned from this web-site. Write a short paper supporting their decisions.
4. Have students find 2 shoes (one correct for their foot type and one wrong for their foot type) on a manufacturer's web site. Take this information and go to a shoe store. Discuss with the sales person the two researched shoes and see if the information they provide is consistent with the manufacturer's. Write a short paper describing their results.

Many running injuries are the result of poor fitting shoes and muscle imbalances.
Other than correcting the shoes, have the students investigate and discuss
possible treatments for these common injuries.
